How long do lip fillers last?
Lip Fillers may last up to a year, depending on which dermal filler you choose. Juvederm offers a few options for lips: Juvederm Volbella XC, Juvederm Ultra XC and Juvederm Vollure XC. Juvederm Volbella XC is a light filler that our patients who want a natural, pillowy look love. Since Juvederm Volbella XC is a lighter, smaller molecule, it lasts anywhere from six to eight months. Juvederm Ultra XC is a patient favorite in our office as it provides a more dramatic plumping effect. Juvederm Ultra XC is a larger molecule, and will last up to a year. Juvederm Vollure XC seems to represent the “happy medium” of long lasting results that are a little softer than Juvederm Ultra XC. It sits between Volbella and Ultra in terms of molecular size, and lasts up to 18 months.
What is the best lip filler?
We understand that each patient has unique goals, and there is a vast selection of lip fillers on the market that continues growing with the trend of plump pouts. Dr. Gaines considers the Juvederm family of fillers to be the premium choice for lips. Juvederm filler is made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in the skin where it holds water and helps keep the skin plump and hydrated. In addition to great products, it is crucial to choose a provider who has adequate experience with lip filler. Always make sure your doctor is Board Certified. It’s also a good idea to check up on their results – read your doctor’s reviews, visit their website, and stalk their Instagram for before and after photos! You can follow ours here.
Are lip fillers painful?
Lip Fillers certainly can be painful as the lips are a very sensitive area! We apply a topical numbing cream before injecting at our clinic to make the process a lot more comfortable. Once the topical numbing has taken effect, we cleanse the skin and Dr. Gaines will begin the injection process. Lip Filler consists of four to six punctures by a tiny needle. You may feel a tingling sensation as the filler is injected, and this is normal as the filler contains lidocaine to make the injection process more comfortable.
What do lip fillers do?
Lip Fillers shape the lips by injection of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is a hydrating gel that is naturally found in your skin and contributes to keeping your skin plump and youthful-appearing. The initial Lip Filler injection will plump your lips by injecting the actual HA molecule. After injection, the HA will pull water molecules to wherever it was injected over the next 24 hours, which fills out the lips a bit more. Because of this, swelling is common after injection and may last up to three days, but can be lessened with ice pack application and taking an anti-inflammatory medicine like Ibuprofen.
Who is a good candidate for lip filler?
Since it is a non-invasive treatment, most people are good candidates for Lip Filler. If you have diabetes, lupus, blood-clotting problems, an allergy to lidocaine or an active infection like oral herpes, ask your doctor before receiving Lip Filler. Any ideal candidate will be a patient who would like to augment their lips, has done their research, and does not have any of the aforementioned conditions.
